There are times when the water to a building must be shut off for more than a few minutes or there is an emergency failure in a legally required fire safety system such as sprinklers, alarms, or pumps. When this occurs, community managers should recommend that a fire security guard or guards be hired as needed in order to provide protection to the community. As a backup, in the event of a fire emergency, they can immediately call the fire department.
